Proper nowadays artists - day 285: Morgan Weistling (USA)
Morgan Weistling (1964, USA)
There’s a lot of talk about “lineage” in the contemporary atelier industry. I’m not sure how much of it really sticks personally. However, Weistling is one artist who can genuinely lay claim to being part of a great tradition. Weistling was taught by Fred Fixler who in turn was taught by Frank Reilly and and the Golden Age of Illustrators. (He talks about Dean Cornwell here (1:05:17)) And it’s evident in his draughtsmanship and painting.
I always recommend his excellent “Homework” instructional video in workshops and classes.
