This year's ARC salon figurative category

...featured this painting by me.

Some of it was ok, some less so. The photo wasn't great. Patches of it were dry and other parts wet. Often you spend ages on the painting and then get a relatively quick photo which is what people end up seeing rather than the painting itself.

Anyway I can now reveal that when I finished it I thought the bottom left corner needed something, so I stole the cloth from Velázquez's 'Christ contemplated by the Christian Soul'.

It didn't make it into the prizes. (My painting I mean, not the Velázquez one.)
