Proper nowadays artists - day 141: James Bama (USA)

James Bama (USA, 1926)

Trained at the (proper) Art Students League, Bama went on to draw the Doc Savage books and box art for model kits, ultimately going on to paint Western Art. There’s an interview here with Joe DeVito which describes him taking a place at the opposite end of a spectrum from the great Frank Frazetta in his intellectual, meticulous approach to painting which situates his work well in my view.
