Proper nowadays artists - day 157: Alexander Tyshenko
Tyshenko is head of the Repin Academy.
Part of the genius of the Repin Academy is how the meticulousness and depth of the drawing gets married with the immediacy and sensuality of the paintwork. The brilliance is in the apparent looseness of the painting, but all with that that incredible design holding it together - something that the term Steve Huston coined, “structural impressionism”, could be used for.
Tragic that an education as deep and thorough as this is completely unavailable to us in our institutions here in Ireland, but that’s another matter.
