Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland Presidential Portrait
I was honoured to be chosen to paint the RCSI presidential portrait of Dr. Ronan O'Connell last year. Dr. O'Connell is Emeritus Professor of Surgery and honorary Consultant Surgeon at St Vincent's University Hospital Dublin. Professor O'Connell is President-elect of the European Surgical Association as well as RCSI President.
In the portrait i was asked to include the portrait, the surgeon's hands, the stained glass in the York st. Presidential office, the Abraham Colles portrait in the office (who the Colles fracture is named after), the presidential robes (never worn due to covid and white roses to symbolise the deaths that occurred during covid. This was the composition that was decided upon.
